The history of downhill mountainbiking in Bratislava started in the summer of 1997 when two enthusiasts known by their nicknames "Roháč" and "Kačica" started to build a downhill track that was given the unofficial name of Rohatka as a play on words of "Roháč". That same year in autumn the first unofficial downhill mountainbike race was held there. In 1998 Rohatka featured for the first time as one of the tracks used for the Slovak Downhill Mountainbike Cup and was regularly repeated up to and including 2001 when for some reason downhill mountainbiking on Rohatka went into hibernation until 2004 when the association Slobodný Bajker was formed. With the support of the Bratislava City Forest Office started the association Slobodný Bajker process to legalise Rohatka. In 2005 following the track's legalisation and with about 1.200 man-hours put in by local bikers Rohatka has been completely rebuilt along with a 1 km long section from the meadow down to the end of the track by the Rotunda snack bar.
