Das Forum war ja jetzt für eine Stunde ca. offline.
Die hatten einen Feueralarm im Datenzentrum... Ein paar Impression aus einem Forum:
(DN = DedNow = Dedicatednow ist unser Provider, der auch in dem Gebäude des Datenzentrums eingemietet ist. NAC.net ist das Datenzentrum)

For some of you who are using DN or I think its affecting all NAC's network.
They are down right now .. I couldn't get in touch with anyone in DN but I
was able to talk to somebody at NAC.
They're having fire emergency right now .. he was able to answer the phone
before he evacuating the building.
I don't know how serious this situation is .. but I guess we'll know once
they're back inside the building.

They have an electrical fire and when I spoke to them about 5 to 10 min ago
they are waiting for the fire dept to restore. (Restore what I don't know)
That is what the Net Ops Rep said when I called over there.

You haven't seen this fire, we haven't either - so labeling it "a little
thing like a fire" wouldn't be fair - for all we know, the whole place could
be up in flames(that's an unsupported speculation by me btw) - natures fury
isn't fair all the time ....

So a feueralarm hat auch was gutes. Jetzt weiß ich, warum seit 16. keine Backups mehr gehen: Neuer Server => Neue IPs => nicht freigegeben in der Firewall. Hab quasi mit der Firewall das Backup ausgeschlossen. Und da das mitten in der Nacht am Router läuft, fällt das natürlich keinem Menschen auf.

Sowas ist gar nicht lustig.
Bei der IBM in Wien haben's die vermieteten Server im Keller stehen. Und dort hat's auch mal Feueralarm gegeben, woraufhin natürlich die automatischen Löschanlagen losgegangen sind.
Da sind damals einige Euro vernichtet worden!
Außerdem waren da ein Haufen Kunden betroffen die sich keine Notfallssysteme leisten wollten (nur einige wenige Kunden leisten sich 3 oder 4 Server für den Fall dass einer ausfällt). Das heißt bei denen ist dann den ganzen Tag nichts mehr gegangen (da war auch das Online-Banking einer größeren Bank betroffen

).Und ich glaub fast 100 Techniker waren ein Wochenende damit beschäftigt die Systeme wieder zum Laufen zu bringen, und vor allem die Backups wieder einzuspielen

EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION from NET ACCESS CORPORATION
We are still gathering information, but it appears there was a small fire in the 3rd floor DSR room, which resulted in a loss of power. Our FM-200 fire suppressant worked as planned and immediately kicked in. The entire building has been evacuated at this time and the fire department is onsite.
We are very fortunate that no one was inside the DSR room during this event. Net Access Corporation will continue to update this page as more information is gathered.
UPDATE - 11:39am EDT: power to our core networking gear (gbr1.oct.nac.net and msfc1.oct.nac.net) has been restored. Customers in our site A collocation should now have normal network reach ability to their servers. Our technicians are working on restoring power to atm1.oct.nac.net and cust3.oct.nac.net now.

Übrigens: Unser Server ist gar nie gestanden. Der hatte also immer Strom. War nur das Netzwerk, das ausgefallen ist.

Ja - Solche Löschsystem sind bei solchen Gebäuden natürlich net gerade zielführend.
Da hilfen eh nur feuerfeste Türen.
Ich hab ja extra kein Datenzentrum in New York genommen (Terrorgefahr größer) aber trotzdem eins in New Jersy weil besonders dort (Ostküste) die Verbindungen nach Europa schnell sind. Ausserdem haben die (nac.net) jetzt eine eigne Leitung nach England.
Vor Datenzentren in Florida wurde auch schon gewarnt => Hurricans.

Jo unser Admin Gott kennt sie eben aus deshalb haben wir ihn ja ,selbst Feuer und Erdbeben san bei ihm eingeplant !!

Am Besten wär's ja, den Serverraum zu verschließen und dann die Luft rauszupumpen. Ohne Luft kein Sauerstoff, ohne Sauerstoff kein Feuer

sprenkler sind halt blöd, weil die alles unter wasser setzen. türen zu und warten bis die Feuerwehr kommt. die kann ja dann mit Schau oder so geziehlt löschen.
deswegen meine ich auch feuerfeste türen. Damit der Brand lokal bleibt.
Luft-Absaugung wäre natürlich das beste!

Aber für solche Fälle gibts doch noch Löschpulver und -gase, Wassersprinkler in einem Serverraum sind wirklich nicht geeignet, aber billig.

drum gibts in jeder halbwegs wichtigen anlage, wie ein akw z.b., keine sprinkelanlagen, sondern stickstofffluter. da geht a riesen sirene und dann hast 20 sec. sicheres territorium zu erreichen, sonst gehst in die horizontale ruhelage...
