Leatt Brace für Downhiller

Ich werde in mehreren Foren gefragt nach Infos über die DH-Version des Leatt Braces und habe mich nun direkt über meine Beziehungen bei Leatt schlau gemacht.


Demnach wird es keine total überarbeitete, neue Leatt Brace speziell für Downhiller geben. Jeder, der sich so ein Teil kaufen will braucht also jetzt nicht warten...

Es wird in Zusammenarbeit mit Pro-Downhillern seit ein paar Monaten ein anderes Paddingkit getestet und optimiert. Dieses Paddingkit wird in nächster Zeit auf den Markt kommen und passt für das Modell Club und Sport. Ein genauer Termin konnte mir nicht genannt werden.

Wer billig kauft und sich das Adventure Brace holt geht leer aus! Das Adventure Brace wird sogar von Leatt selbst NICHT für Mountainbiking empfohlen da die Sitzposition und Bewegungen anders als beim Motocross ist !!!!! Siehe Homepage leatt brace!


Zusammengefasst also das LB Club oder Sport kaufen, dann das optionale DH-Kit dazu kaufen und fertig ist die DH- Leatt Brace.

We suggest using the GPX Club or Sport braces for Downhill mountain biking as they will allow you a greater range of movement than the Adventure. The Club and Sport braces are adjustable in the way that the front and rear platforms may be lowered to allow more front to back rotation of the head while still offering great neck protection in the unfortunate chance of a crash.

Leatt will offering a low profile padding kit for its neck brace range for Downhill mountain biking, this replaces the original padding and allows for the head to be slightly more tucked when looking forward, the kit will be available soon.

Hey, I recently saw an interview with Andrew Neethling, one of the first pro mountain bikers to use your brace, and he mentioned a downhill specific model, which would have different padding in the back plate to allow for more movement to look upwards than the normal model. Downhillers are in a very different body position than MX guys, as we have to look upwards much more on steep descents, while MX look forward much more. I want to get one of your neck braces, and i know that the rear plat is adjustable, but i do not want to be restricted in looking forward on steep descents, and most of the riding i do comes close to vertical. Will there be a downhill model? or parts that can be swapped for downhill? Thanks so much Fionn


As you have stated “Downhillers” indeed find themselves in steeper technical sections, that are unlike those found in Motocross. In our observations of Downhill mountain biking we have noticed that people’s particular riding style may influence the interaction/moment of the head and the brace, for example if one has a very horizontal back position with a raised chin style, they in particular may feel hindered by the rear platform.

Currently the GPX Club and Sport braces are the most suited to mountain biking. What may help in your case is our optional low profile padding kit, which will be available in stores soon!
